Henley Redstone (8th generation) 1986
Henley Redstone is an eighth generation wild child born in 1986 of a wizard mother and her guardian husband. Though they kept up with keeping the main family in on their business by visiting or letters, this family traveled around to keep themselves safe and occupied. Henley's parents taught her of their past to explain why they were moving around, and hoped that one day she would become a wizard. But what they didn't plan for was her exploratory nature, often running off and getting herself into some sort of scrape or another. One day as she ran off yet again from her family's home to cliff dive she met a wind and a water spirit, later on making a pact with both of them in close succession. From then on she decided she wanted to travel- but this time away from her parents, taking her father's name of Vanderbuilt and still keeping in touch with them and the main family. She is careful not to reveal anything of herself.
_________________________________Spirit Information[Base Element]
Name: Azeren - One brash, annoying spirit taking the shape of a peeper frog. Younger and weaker than most, it talked Shy into making a pact with it when the young wizard was away from her mother at her father's house. (edit: If you want a size reference of how it normally appears- that thing it's hanging on is one of Shy's dreads. Yeah, it's tiny)
Slip and Slide [Support]
Shy creates an area or path of slippery moss to aid in her movement or surprise others. She can navigate the paths well on the ground, but she can also create them on trees, walls and the like.
Can summon an area of 10ft in radius or a straight 20 ft length path of slippery moss from her location. It takes a minute to cast, twice as long on unnatural terrain. Can only create 4 areas/paths a day in 20 min intervals
Can make an area with a radius of 20ft or a 40ft path. The path can now take curving turns and does not have to be straight. Can create 8 areas/paths in 10 min intervals.
Can make an area with a radius of 30ft or a 60ft path. The path can have sharp corners or smooth turns, whatever she chooses. Can create 16 areas/paths in 5 min intervals.
Shy is just as her nickname suggests. This young girl is not the most talkative person and tends to try and blend into the background, becoming a little more braver when it's one on one or when it's someone she knows and has deemed 'safe' in her mind. She is not exactly an excellent judge of character, so those she deems safe are most likely just those who have done one act of kindness towards her; such as given her something or they could simply be the quietest person in the room. However, she follows and watches that person, often taking their advice or following their example when it comes to reacting to an event or another person. In a term, she's a shadow, in both movement and slight personality adjustments by copying others. She is also very gullible.History:
After a round trip with her spirits, the wizard Henley decided to settle in Jamaica. There she took up many odd jobs at the hotels there, teaching tourists how to jet ski or cliff dive. On one of the beaches of these resorts she worked, she met a man by the name of Ephraim, who worked selling knick-knacks on the beach. They soon became close, wed and she had a child with him- a daughter she name Shaydin. She was a small, quiet baby, a bit clingy at times. Where Henley flourished in large groups of people, Shy held tightly to her mother until she became adjusted to it. So there she lived in the shadow of her mother, and grew to be a very cautious child. But she was happy.Misc Info:
The marriage between Shy's parents was short lived after she was born. Ephraim left Henley, but he wanted to take and raise his child himself, not wanting to leave her with the wild woman. After a heated battle, they conceded to share joint custody of their little girl. This was just another thing for Shy to adjust to. No longer under the watchful eye of her ex-husband, Henley told her daughter everything of the Redstones, trusting Shy to keep it secret. And the secret she kept, more than excited to be a part of a world of magic, but she knew to be cautious because of her mother's stories of monsters and people out to get them. So with this in mind, she grew even more cautious, never revealing much of herself or her mother and was wary of all strangers. Henley also warned about making a pact with a spirit too soon, so Shy kept silent of the little spirit that she had befriended in her father's garden until the day the child made a pact with it. As soon as Henley saw the markings on her daughter's wrist she knew she what she had to do and contacted the family, taking her to Dulcedomum as soon as possible.
Has an older half-brother named Nadeem. He is currently 18 and taking care of their father. Roleplay Paragraph Sample:
Doesn't like bacon. Or ham or any pork based meats really. Her father and brother do not eat pork and she developed a distaste of it because of that.
The necklace she wears is made of cowrie shells she, her mother and father and brother went searching for when she was five. It's one of her fondest memories.
Is usually wearing small golden hoop earrings.
When extremely scared or angry she slips into a thicker Jamaican accent.
She loves her long hair- It's sort of along the lines of her security blanket. She plays with it when nervous or worried, and pulls some of the dreads over her shoulder to twist when scared.
To say she was nervous was an understatement. Shy rang her hands together just to keep them from shaking as she moved along the paths to where? She didn't know. It took her this long just to take the first step from the door to explore. She bit her bottom lip, moving further into the wooded area of the Earth Wing's Heartwood, jumping as one of the statues moved, her eyes darting to it and feeling an unexpected calm, like someone was watching over her. She looked upwards, taking in the light trickling through the foliage. Inventory
She had gotten lost again, but for the first time in her life she didn't mind. She closed her eyes smiling as she felt the now familiar tug at her dreads of her spirit materializing. "I like it here," she said.
"Stop wasting time and get to work." Came the impatient chirp from the frog hidden in her hair. The girl frowned.
"But I'm lost... and we do have a bit of time." Though she did wonder how long would it be until someone else arrived to guide her in the right direction.
